In order to maintain the integrity and security of UMB’s research platforms, a required update to CICERO sign-in processes is forthcoming. The local log-in option will no longer be available once this transition is complete. All individuals utilizing CICERO will require a UMID for single sign-on (SSO) by October 20,2025.
Affiliate Users:
From this date CICERO account creation for affiliate research team members will be accomplished as part of this new process. Principal Investigators will be responsible for sponsoring and initiating the process for UMID acquisition through the Community System for all affiliate research team members.

CICERO is a comprehensive online solution for the review of human, animal, and in vitro research. It is a cooperative effort among multiple committees responsible for supporting the research community at the University of Maryland. CICERO is where research teams can create and submit online all the forms needed for evaluation and approval of research studies by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), the Radiation Safety Committee (RSC), and the General Clinical Research Center (GCRC).
